Part 4: Regulation 4.5

This course is intended for anyone who works with or is exposed to chemicals in the workplace and meets all New Zealand legal requirements.

The formal name of this course is Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) and the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances Regulations 2017 (HSWA HS) : Part 4: Regulation 4.5"

Employers (Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking: PCBU) must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that every worker who carries out work of any kind, uses plant of any kind, or deals with a substance of any kind that is capable of causing a risk in a workplace is trained in the use of the equipment, plant, and substances that could cause harm or injury.

The training and instruction must include, training and instruction in the following:

(i) 

The physico-chemical and health hazards associated with the hazardous substances the worker uses at work:

(ii)

The procedures (if applicable) for the safe use, handling, manufacture, storage, and disposal of the hazardous substances:

(iii)

Practice in the safe use of plant (including personal protective equipment) necessary to manage the hazardous substances:

(iiia)

The worker’s obligations under these regulations:

(iv)

the actions that the worker should take in an emergency involving the hazardous substances

This course will help you meet the training requirements of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 and regulation 9 of Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016
